The Ropemasters are the Dock Guards of Portside and Dockside. As might be expected from a body which oversees the bulk of the imports and exports to Syran, they are "well-resourced" and have close ties with various institutions, most notably the Naval College and the Church of the Waters.

A very tightly-knit body, they look after their own and each member will have a number of "Uncles" who set them on a suitable career, often outside the City Guard. By these means, the Ropemasters can count on support from a range of organizations within the city through well-placed "Nephews". One Nephew for the future is Pavel.
