Avatar, The
The English name of a superhero who was based in Calcutta from 1979 to 1998. Powers included flight, invulnerability, strength, and uncanny accuracy with chakram blades. He is known for focusing mainly on alleviating the plight of Calcutta's poor, but there is some debate over whether that was truth or just good marketing. It is known that he had several run-ins with government agents, both foreign and domestic, and in the great Invasion Of 1992?, defended the Indian subcontinent as a member of the short-lived superteam, the Shining Lights?.
