Enigma was one of the earliest known Deep Empaths, but there is little information about her. Although she had participated in some small-scale crime-fighting activities in the city of St. Ives, her first major appearance was when she stormed Camp Paragon. She later claimed to have discovered the camp due to her contact with infants in the Tunguska Field; they were aware of the camp because the Deep Empath Ideon was being trained there. The two worked together for some time, but abruptly disappeared from the public eye and have not been seen since.

The tabloid Globe Daily Supreme recently published an expose claiming that Enigma and Ideon were lesbian lovers and quit the crime-fighting businees due to fear of growing anti-gay sentiments.
