Story: correction/expansion

In the week in review I wrote:
* Ren and John have been spending a lot of time together as part of “Working Girl”, which is a really fantastic story.
This is inaccurate. Should read:
* Ren and John started spending a lot of time together, due to “Working Girl”, but it’s gone well past that story which, if you read Working Girl — turned out to be the point.
More after the cut…

So what happened was this: working with Hekuba on a task force or two, and the player says “Hey, there’s this Working Girl thing I’m doing, and do you have any ideas for it? It’ll get dark for awhile, but if you’re cool with that… I mean, wanna?”
Basically. Per usual, she said it better than I just did. Anyway.
So I had this idea for her character having a dream about taking Abi some food, like normal, but when she gets to the girl, the dream flips and it’s actually her character living on the street, and MY character bringing the food to her, and it’s… about 3 or 4 years ago — back in that period of time neither of our characters remembers.
I just thought it was a cool idea, and it was, and it explains *why* she calls John to help her out with the poor little Working Girl she’s trying to save.
The chemistry between the two characters is amazing. So much backstory there between them now, in fleshing out everything that happened before John lost his memory — the dynamic that they had, and the affection (constrained, at that time, by the fact that she was underage and he was married) that carried into the present (where she isn’t… and neither is he) just exploded into an intense romantic interaction that’s just blown me away.
Ren’s player (who’s also playing Myca with Keth) is a fantastic writer, and I’m constantly scrambling to try to keep up and hold up my end of the story at least moderately well. Dichotomy there — frantically trying to not suck, but grinning all the while cuz it’s all so damn *good*, then back to the trying to not-suck again.
Anyway, that’s an update to the update.

When I get the summer home in Italy in two years, you're totally invited to borrow it for a time share.
