Week in Review

CoH:
Messed around with a couple lower-level characters -- notably Bear Claws (who I think still has (annoyingly) the hero-side of the Valentine's missions to finish... so I need a villain to help me out there.

Got Toothbreaker with Keth and Myca, but not on Bear. Got... Handsome on... Pummelcite... and Beautiful for Gilly (both of whom are level 20 now, finally).

Everyone else? Hell, I didn't even get most of my people logged in to pick up the "Heart of ____" badge.

Coming up, there's Monday Munchies, then I've got a couple things I'm supposed to or need to do with John on Tuesday evening (hard to play him -- just not fun for me since he got kicked out of the Guard -- don't ask me why, I dunno -- so maybe the RP on Tuesday will help me get back into him). Would like to do some work with Markov's missions -- nothing like Assault Rifle snipers for the Zen of Soloing.

... other than that, no plans. With Spring Fountain this coming Friday, Margie Gras on Saturday, and a probable hangover on Sunday, I don't expect to get a lot of play time this coming weekend, and I'll be out of town the weekend after that, so... yeah, don't expect a glut of stuff coming out of the CoH side of things in the nearish future.

Face to Face
Got everyone involved in the Firefly game together to do character generation. That went pretty well, and now I'm set to come up with some information on the NPCs that will make up the rest of the crew, as well as information on the ship itself. I'm pleased that the chargen went as well as it did, and I'm equally glad that I had the foresight (this time) to NOT jump right in and try to 'run something' -- I think it'll let me come up with a better backgroup for the characters, as well as a better plotline. Time to work on Bangs for everyone. :)

Need to set up some time to do the exact same thing with the Sorcerer group.

Spring Fountain, which is about 8 sessions into a roughly 10-session plotline, is meeting on Friday. I need to write up a 'when we last left our heroes' post for everyone, including myself. :)

And that's it -- a lot of prep, but also stuff to look forward to.

Random Updates

Blowing the dust (just dust, not Dust) off of the Game Calendar, since we've got stuff going on a bit more regularly in the near future.

Things to do:

Figure out a time to get together on character generation for the Sorcerer game. (Clicking Sands: Blood Simple)

Figure out a time (weekly or bi, mid-week-ish) to do Xian Quan via chat or IRC. I need to install AIM and look at the dice bot... and test out the ability to run multiple group-chat... things. What I want is one OOC 'room' for rolls and kibbitzing and one or two IC 'rooms' to have scenes running, concurrently... I know IRC can do it -- dunno if AIM can... I'd rather run GTalk for it, but I don't think it handles groups at all... or has a dicebot.

Note: need to take a look at WebRPG too. :P

In other news.

Heroquest, Spring Fountain, this Friday ... umm soon. Woo? :)

Munch

Reminder to folks: Monday Munchies tonight. Same Munchie-time, same Munchie-channel. Mmm Pie has the Frosting-fire mission, and if folks are interested we have a couple 'evil foods' we can log on to do the v-day events.

Hopefully, I won't be late (again), due to this miserable deadline today.

Random Bits...

Hang Time
(Level: 50)
Started the Shard Task Force, but ran into a few hitches.

1. Blasters are squishy aggro magnets.
2. Controllers... also squishy aggro magnets.
3. Rularuu suck.
4. Valentine's Day content we'll miss if we stay in the TF.

Right. So, we postponed the TF for a bit and quit the thing so we can go get limited-time badges and stuff.

Hyperthermian
(Level: Fiddy)

Will probably run the Valentine's Day content up to a point with him, just cuz the guy needs the Handsome badge. :)

Strategist
(Level: 34)
Nothing this week, thought I got to hear about something cool with Tactician last night... :)

Epitaph
(level: 32)

Need to get John going again. Didn't get the Manticore TF rolling. Need to fix that.

Kethos
(Level: 23 (New))
Little bit of play-time in the last couple weeks, but not nearly enough. I'd dearly like to run the full V-day stuff with him and get the Toothbreaker badge. :)

Pummelcite
(Level: 20 (New))
Ran through the first four Valentine's Day missions (got the handsome badge, but how could he wear anything but "Geologist"? I ask yah...), then one more thing with Blue Ruin to ding 20 and get STAMINA LOVELY STAMINA -- then did the new costume mission, which in turn dinged Ruin. Cool.

Good group for the V-day stuff -- lots of fun with Austere around, laying ice on top of Pummy's defense armors -- very cool stuff... har har.

So... Stamina... which should help me keep my armors up. One more major armor to get before Granite... need another attack, somewhere... preferably two... I think there's a nice area in there somewhere...

Hmm. Maybe I'll have a move power before level... 30?

Maybe?

At any rate, I'm pleased with where he's at -- I like where he is on handling group aggro, and I'm jazzed about how we'll feel around level 22 and SO's.

Markov Chain
(Level 20 (NEW))

Doing a bunch of stuff with him tonight -- cape mission, costume mission... valentine's stuff, maybe... all of that good stuff.

Gilly
(level: 19)

Just a few damn bars from 20...

... and a sewer full of CoT ghosts in the way.

Someone log on and do damage while I soak their ineffectual attacks, please?

Lucian Strange
(Level 18:)

Yet another guy who needs more time.

Bear Claws (Level 11 (NEW))

Missed the HH gathering this week, due to a deadline thing, but I'm still managing to keep up with everyon.

Love this guy. Love the gameplay. Love the roleplay. Love the character. Love the supergroup. Love. Love. Love.

Major Haggis (Level 5 (NEW))

One of the driving forces behind the evil nemesi-- nemese-- nemesises? ("What's the plural of that?") The Bad Guy Counterparts of the Hostess Heroes... DEVIL'S FOOD!

<3-day Swag

So I want to get through the Valentine's Day content with someof my toons. This requires pairing up with folks from both sides of the tracks, so here's who I can bring to the party:

CHAMPION GOODIES:
Level 50 Damage
Level 50 Tank
Level 34 Scrapper
Level 32 Not-a-squid
Level 19 Tank
Another level 19 Tank
Level 19 Scrapper

CHAMPION BADDIES:
Level 20 Corrupter, with a gun

VIRTUE:
Level 23 Brute (Anyone have ANY good guys on Virtue? I *might* have one)

FREEDOM
Level 11 Stonerdude

Level 5 Brutish Haggis o' Doom

((That sooper sekrit one that no one knows, who probably will have to whore himself out to a PUG to get it. :) "Rrrover Heerrrrre...."))

Who's still got stuff to get through.

Cowboy up

Back to the Shard - TF #3

*signs up*

*pokes you*

Monday Munchies

Weirdness with Monday Munchies scheduling:

- Player-of-Mmm-Pie will be flying back to Mexico, so won't be around.
- I've got a deadline to hit tonight before I can log in.
- Thing Ginger.Snap's in the same situation.

So... let's say somewhere between 8 to 9 pm, eastern, 6 to 7 mountain, and if you don't see the above folks, don't wait -- make with the heroing stuff. :)

In honor of Jacob :)

Morbid Fact Du Jour, the February 12th entry:

Most authorities believe the character of Dracula in Bram Stoker’s novel was based upon the historical figure Vlad Tepes (pronounced tse-pesh), who intermittently ruled an area of the Balkans called Wallachia in the mid 15th century. He was also called by the names Vlad III, Vlad Dracula and Vlad the Impaler. The word Tepes stands for "impaler" and was so coined because of Vlad’s propensity to punish victims by impaling them on stakes, then displaying them publicly to frighten his enemies and to warn would-be transgressors of his strict moral code. He is credited with killing between 40,000 to 100,000 people in this fashion.
More than anything else the historical Dracula is known for his inhuman cruelty. Impalement was Vlad III’s preferred method of torture and execution. Impalement was and is one of the most gruesome ways of dying imaginable, as it was typically slow and painful. Vlad usually had a horse attached to each of the victim’s legs and a sharpened stake was gradually forced into the body. The end of the stake was usually oiled and care was taken that the stake not be too sharp, else the victim might die too rapidly from shock. Normally the stake was inserted into the body through the buttocks and was often forced through the body until it emerged from the mouth. However, there were many instances where victims were impaled through other body orifices or through the abdomen or chest. Infants were sometimes impaled on the stake forced through their mother’s chests. The records indicate that victims were sometimes impaled so that they hung upside down on the stake.

Just fyi

New CoH patch today. No real info on what it's for.

NOT CoH Plans #2

So I want to plan for other Face to Face gaming, besides wrapping up Spring Fountain.

I know... I know... control your shock.

I'm thinking of...

- Heroquest (fantasy, star wars, amber, or supers)
- Dogs in the Vineyard
- Firefly (using any of a number of possible rulesets - Risus, FATE, DitV, Primetime Adventures, UA, or even the SERENITY game (I know... shocking))
- Sorcerer (yeah, I know -- a bit of a hassle-some game mechanic, but I still love the game... I'd like to do a post-apocalyptic sword and sorcery thing -- the Clicking Sands idea)

If you're down for any of that, sound off and say what for.

NOT CoH Plans #1

Xian Quan -- still very much interested. Need to look at the different ways we can run this, online.

FACE TO FACE -- let's see:

I'd also like to play through the end of Spring Fountain.

Those of you in XQ -- are your characters done... or even an idea pitched to me?

Those of you in Spring Fountain -- are you down for starting that up again?

CoH plans, #2

I was supposed to wait to mention this at the Munchies thing tonight, but I'm an impatient person...

Jason and Noelle are going to do the first Shadow Shard mission, and we've (I think, maybe) lined up the two extra people we need at the END of the TF to finish it, but we need four more people to start the thing.

1. We just need you to pop over to the Shadow Shard to start the thing, you can quit after that.
2. Odds are good you won't want to STAY on the TF, because we're going to take this at HT/Noelle pace, which means slow and intermittently. :) The only folks who might be interested are probably (a) 50's who (b) aren't planning on being on much in that time, or who'll just be on to RP, and not run missions who (c) want to get the badge by logging in for the last two missions, probably in a week or so.

So... (1) can you hop on after the Munchies tonight, or tomorrow evening to help us get it started and (b) if so, are you interested in being tied up by Noelle and Jason for a week (ahem) in order to get the badge?

CoH plans, #1

Monday Munchies Part Two: Hungry in the Hollows!

What time should we plan on? How about 8pm Eastern (7 central, 6 Mountain, 5 Pacific) until whenever, with the standard caveats that some folks won't be able to get on until later?

Sound off!

Week in review

Random Bits...

Hang Time
(Level: 50)
Need to do the thing with the thing and that one girl.

"Shard, it's pronounced 'shard'."

"Right. Shard. Got it."

... just... really looking forward to that stuff.

Hyperthermian
(Level: Fiddy)

Ran the Eden Trial last week. Still owned the damn thing. The clean-up in the last room took a little longer, due the 16+ aggro-limit, but it still rolled.

Strategist
(Level: 34 (NEW!!!))
Holy cow -- who knew the old bastard could still level?!?

Umm... lesse. Strat resigned from his chair as a Tribunal, took on the title of "Spartan" (for a number of good reasons) and whattaya know... I actually wanted to log on and PLAY him again.

Which I did, quite a bit. He really does kick ass -- running on Rugged with pretty much no endurance or healing breaks. Good stuff.

Epitaph
(level: 32)

Need to get John going again. Between what amounted to a kind of annoying level 32 power, and a bout of illness that postponed the Manticore TF and some writing last week, a bunch of stuff I *Expected* to do with him didn't happen. Need to fix that.

Kethos
(Level: 22)
Nada. Sucks, but... nada.

Gilly
(level: 19)

Just a few damn bars from 20...

... and a sewer full of CoT ghosts in the way.

Someone log on and do damage while I soak their ineffectual attacks, please?

Pummelcite
(Level: 19 (New))
Knight's night last night -- dinged 19 and halfway to 20... tanked Psychic Babbage, Diabolique, and Battle Maiden... at level 19. :)

Whhheeeeeee. :)

Granted, impossible without the awesome people we had on the team, but he's tanking for and roleplaying with huge groups of Storm Knights... which is the whole damn reason I *created* the character, so I'm beyond happy about this.

Markov Chain
(Level 19 (NEW))

So very broken. He doesn't know what he needs, but he knows what he wants.

Maybe. :)

Hmm... another level 19 toon... pattern, much?

Lucian Strange
(Level 18: ((New)))

Jesus, this guy kicks butt. Seriously. No one on DO's should be able to ass-whup on Invincible, solo. He does. It's scary.

Bear Claws
(Level 10 (NEW!))

Dude, so... like... I was... I mean, I am... like... I work with this lab.

Well, not work. I mean... not really. But... they pay me to do, like... to run lab experiments on... umm... me? And they don't really get a lot of guys doing that, and I don't mind like... you know... having it done a LOT, cuz they pay pretty good... so we don't say anything much to anyone about how MUCH they do... or I mean... many? So... it works out, right? I get the rent paid, right?

What was the question?

Oh. Right. Umm... you go down two blocks and hang a right. Big building. Can't miss it...

...

Man... I'm SO hungry...

Love this guy. Love the gameplay. Love the roleplay. Love the character. Love the supergroup. Love. Love. Love.

Look for me on Freedom, and you shall find me a stoned man. :)

So... hungry...
